woolly Posted 22 May , 2023 Share Posted 22 May , 2023 (edited) Good evening all! I'm aware of the work that the Military Secretary's department did with regard to the career management of commissioned officers, but from which point in the rank and appointment hierarchy were political considerations taken into account with regard to promotions and appointments? I've had a very quick scan of KRs (1912) and nothing leaped out, so I thought I'd ask the informed body of knowledge in here! Many thanks in advance. Just to add: for clarity, I'm not talking about patronage here, in the manner of the Woods and Roberts circles, but rather appointments which required the authorisation of a political individual such as the Secretary of State for War.
