sadbrewer Posted 11 May , 2023 Share Posted 11 May , 2023 (edited) Hi, I'm trying to help a person on FB. He has found a steel box in the loft of an old house containing Pip, Squeak and Wilfred. The problem is the box was very corroded and rust concretion is stuck heavily on the back of the Star and around the rims of the Victory and BWM...obscuring the details of the recipient...can anyone suggest the best way to remove this without damaging the medals too much. Ilbury Welsh Posted 12 May , 2023 Share Posted 12 May , 2023 Over on The British Medal Forum over the years there have been many discussions on similar problems. Soaking the Star & VM in WD40, or similar product, might help and the BWM in Silver Dip. John
