I don’t see why not, they’re in the public domain and I can’t see any bar.

I’ll pm you.  The one enclosed is here: https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=449947.0

You could also ask @stiletto_33853 who has some superb London Irish photos.

Not necessarily max, it seems that both badges were used simultaneously.  The two photos below were taken quite close together.  Notice also the inconsistency with buttons despite the location being in London.

Unless they have been polished back to brass of course?  I considered that the change to w/m was on the move of the  London Irish to become a TF battalion of the RUR in the 1930's.

It’s a difficult call.  The first photo from ‘rootschat’ above seems a very pale shade typical of white metal.  I imagine that the B&CMBF will have the badge specifications and associated dates listed in a thread somewhere.  Julian Bowsher will probably know.

From the B&CMBF:

White metal version is Sealed Pattern Number 3796 sealed 16/05/1923 [source WO 359 VOL 18 p65].

Blackened brass SPN 9036 on 24/07/1916 [source WO 359 VOL. 16 p24]

Thank you Max, it looks like the images show a highly polished brass badge then, as they were all photos taken during WW1.

As it was during the war they tok what they were given?

Yes, but I think there must have been an intended policy in each unit as that was common.  In some of the other, London Regiment, rifles-styled battalions, white or gilding metal badges were kept for walking out dress, and blackened badges for marching and field day order.  It was not the case in regular army rifles units though.

Seriously impressive. Thanks for sharing them with us. Where did you get the helmet?

Hello David,

the helmet came out of an auction at Ripon North Yorkshire. Arthur Borrowman’s items were an eBay purchase.
