AOK4 Posted 2 May , 2023 Share Posted 2 May , 2023 Hello, Does anyone know which possibilities there are for a group (let's say 25 people) to have a picknick (just a roof over our head in case of bad weather) and preferably a possibility to go to the toilet on the Somme? I know of the Thiepval visitor's centre, but are there more places like it? Jan
Ancre1917 Posted 2 May , 2023 Share Posted 2 May , 2023 The South African museum at Delville wood has toilets and outside seating area with plenty of trees to shelter under if it rains or the weather is too hot! http://www.delvillewood.com You may need to check it’s open though Richard
chaz Posted 2 May , 2023 Share Posted 2 May , 2023 no toilets, but places like Pozieres, Arras etc with large covered name panels can provide a bit of shelter. You may be lucky, I have seen the odd portaloo outside a cemetery.
genegwf Posted 3 May , 2023 Share Posted 3 May , 2023 You might try Avril Williams in Auchonvillers. She has a large room which can accommodate your group. Indoor restrooms and plenty of seating. Gene
AOK4 Posted 13 May , 2023 Author Share Posted 13 May , 2023 Thanks for all the suggestions. We'll do a reconnaissance next week and check the possibilities. Jan
