Ivor Anderson Posted 1 May , 2023 Author Share Posted 1 May , 2023 Thanks Gunner, I don't get the Kilkeel, Co. Down connection in the newspaper clipping. Not sure we have the correct man? If he got decorated by the King he must have got a significant award. No evidence it was an MC though?

Gunner 87 Posted 2 May , 2023 Share Posted 2 May , 2023 (edited) This photograph is Lieutenant Diamond of the South African Army which appeared in the 'Weekly Telegraph' November 11th 1916 who assisted Sergeant Sergeant Tarpey of the Royal Irish Constabulary, Kileel, with identification of bodies following the sinking of the SS Connemara after it collided with a second vessel in the Irish Sea. It appears the officer served with the South African Army Service Corps. which maybe why we are having difficulty finding his records. .
