Remembered Today:

Help required in identifying cap badge and uniform

I am trying to help a friend find out which regiment he served in, she is certain that his name was Richard (Dick) Patrick.

If anyone can help identify the cap badge and possibly the uniform I would be very grateful

Thank you

I agree with tonydb and the shoulder titles that are just about visible would seem to chime with those regiments too.  The spurs he wears also fits.

My only caution is to bear in mind that there were a handful or more of regular and yeomanry cavalry regiments that had similar shaped cap badges.

NB.  The background looks like Wellington Barracks in London.

Thank you both for your replies

Perhaps one of our genealogical detectives can track him down.  Do you know if he served overseas during WW1?

Information update

Dick was his nickname!

His full name was Herbert Frank Patrick, born in Long Sutton, Lincs in 1892.

More to come later

Possibly Trooper 4178 Herbert Patrick, 1st Life Guards. Enlisted 7th December 1915, discharged 14th January 1917 (KR 392 xvi). No overseas service, I believe his service papers can be found at Find My Past.
