Hello, I'm trying to upload an old photo of a former trench positions taken by my grandfather in the 60's but keep getting 'error 200'.  Could anybody help me to resolve this?

Thank you.

Howard

Maybe size matters …. I’ll fetch my coat

File rejected was over 2 mb this was 200 ish kb , considerably smaller

On the British medal forum you get error messages if you try to load anything too big

Thank you Coldstreamer,

The attached photo was taken by my grandfather in the late 1950s / early 1960s during one of his annual pilgrimages to the War Graves and former battlefields where he served in the Great War.  To my eyes, this photo looks like a 'double exposure' (not sure if that's the correct term).  But what is clearly visible is the corrugated sheeting and at least two steel helmets on posts, grave-marker style (I think I see a third) but does anybody see a German and a British helmet?  I would have thought that by the time this photo was taken any such grave-marker from the Great War would have long been discovered and formally addressed?  Is that reasonable? If so, does it suggest the helmets are WW2 relics?

Thank you for any thoughts.

Yes, certainly a  brodie and a stahlhelm.

Am I seeing (German?) writing on a sign, bottom left?

Fascinating picture, it could have been taken in any part of the countryside in any country anytime in the last century.

Hard to imagine it was once a hard fought over derelict landscape only a few decades before. Nature's powers of regeneration are amazing.

  • Michelle Young changed the title to Former Trench position.

Now that the image has been posted successfully, I’ve moved the thread to Western Front.
