Alan24 Posted 10 April , 2023 Share Posted 10 April , 2023 After joining as a private, he was sent to Balliol College Oxford for a course of instruction with a view to becoming a commisioned officer. He was later discharged as a private and commisioned as an officer, "for the benefit of public service".
DuncanBro Posted 10 April , 2023 Author Share Posted 10 April , 2023 That's great, thanks. His job on his service file is Actuarial Clerk - if I've read it right. Wonder if that had anything to do with being Commissioned? Can't seem to find his Commission mentioned in the London Gazette though?

These records are not digitised so you will need to visit the NA in person or pay a researcher to look on your behalf. https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_q=William+Easson&discoveryCustomSearch=true&_cr1=WO+339&_cr2=WO+374&_hb=tna Edited 10 April , 2023 by Alan24
