AlwaysLearning Posted 7 April , 2023 Share Posted 7 April , 2023 (edited) I have two books which are unscripted with "Edward Momber October 1876 London I initially thought they may be owned by the war hero Edward Momber, however I can now see they predate him however it is an unusual surname so I wondered if they may be his father's (unsure of whether he had the same name though) The reason for posting is firstly to see if there is any history to be learned and secondly whether there's a suitable place for these to go? Thanks in advance if anyone can assist Edited 7 April , 2023 by AlwaysLearning Spelling error in surname
alf mcm Posted 7 April , 2023 Share Posted 7 April , 2023 Welcome to the forum. A family tree on Ancestry shows Edward's father's name was Frederick. Edward Marie Felix Momber - Facts (ancestry.co.uk) However, there was an Edward Momber born in Clapham in 1858 who is a possible owner of the book. By 1881 he was living off the interest of his capital, so would be likely to be a buyer of such a book. He is the only 'Edward Momber' to appear in the 1871 and 1881 censuses. 1881 England Census - Ancestry.co.uk Regards, Alf McM
