Hi I came across this over the last few days I would like to if people think its genuine or a reproduction there's 1915 stamped on the leather one end and a few very faint markings on the other I believe are 1GD8 68

If anyone could help much appreciated and if someone has one also would very much like to see too.

Hello, Josh -

Everything about your sling looks genuine to me - the wear on metal, thread, and leather.  I have seen examples both with and without the cross-hatching.

I have never seen a dated example before, but normal use would usually wear off such markings, especially if the markings were lightly struck.

These slings are quite scarce and expensive, since most G-98 rifles lack slings.

Regards, Torrey

Hi ,Torrey thanks for your opinion I just think that there are so many copies out there that are good copies some of them.

Having the date stamped like that I just don't know if its to good to be true.

Regards josh
