Saratan Posted 18 March , 2023 Posted 18 March , 2023 Charles Arthur Driver had been deemed to have enlisted in March 1916 and was called up February 1917. He was a private in the Royal Army Service Corps (MT) Service number:344663. He learnt to drive in Isleworth and was stationed in Southampton and only briefly in France at Havre and Rouen towards the end of the war. His Record of services (enrollment crossed out) record has a rectangular ‘Returned to UK for Release’ stamp with hand written ‘VE’ and date ‘25/2/20’. Another oval stamp has No.1 Dispersal Unit Purfleet. Please can anyone explain what these mean for his discharge procedure.
