Nickh2203 Posted 6 March , 2023 Share Posted 6 March , 2023 Hi, I happened across the picture below, advertised on Ebay as Sergeants of 1st Bn, Somerset Light Infantry. This picture is clearly heavily cropped and looks like its been split, with a central part missing ( what appears to be the other end is below as well). I've been in touch with the seller, who does not have a complete copy. In the left hand picture, the tall Sergeant at the back has had most of his face cropped off. The bit that's left is intriguingly similar to the photograph I have of my Wife's Great Uncle, Sgt. Joe Pitman, who was in this regiment, but was killed on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, at the Quadrilateral (Heidenkopf) next to the Serre road. I was hoping that someone might know this picture, or has seen it somewhere and could point me in the right direction of the original or a complete copy . . . here's hoping. Many thanks, Nick
