AIF Officer's odd insignia?

Hello!

I found a photo of 53rd Battalion Officers in 1917, and one of the officers has a peculiar ribbon/insignia above his left breast pocket.

I originally found it in suggesting to forum member Kimberley John Lindsay that it might be Captain W.F Lindsay MC, ED, but he doesn't feel it's him..
The insignia above his breast is enhanced and inverted below.

Thanks to rubbish AWM quality photographs, I cannot enhance further.

I'll be happy with any response in this matter

It appears to be a medal ribbon with the colour white featuring within it.  It doesn’t really count as ‘insignia’ and it’s positioning is entirely commensurate with a medal ribbon.

If it was the ribbon of the MC it would have two vertical white bands.

Yes I agree, do you think the twin aspect would be clear on such a blurred photo Bryan?

@FROGSMILE  Its a very poor photo for sure, & the close up is no better, all I can make out is that single white or light band.  No why we are going to ID that ribbon from this photo.

Fair enough, can't blame ya.

Honestly, it is quite poor quality to do anything, just thought there might've been a chance.

To me it looks like a white speck, much like those white specks in the sky and the one on his collar
