delta Posted 1 March , 2023 Share Posted 1 March , 2023 (edited) Came across this image of three Mark I tanks on the Somme in September 1916. This photo was taken by Gnr Alexander Wilson of the Royal New Zealand Artillery as the tanks were passing their lines. The image seems to show they were travelling in the late evening (see the shadow) in north-easterly direction. The caption states that they were near Montauban, Based on other NZ reports, the tanks are almost certainly D Coy vehicles moving to their new advanced base (tankodrome) at Green Dump, south west of Longueval, on Wed 13 Sep 1916.
