Rafal1971 Posted 21 February , 2023 Share Posted 21 February , 2023 Hallo A for lack of time to search :-) Another question from a friendly bayonet collector. What does the designation of the German regiment 4.B.241.320 mean. (the last three digits in small font - it is known - the number of the weapon) (I do not have photos). Marking on bayonet according to the typology of Carter EB 50 or 51. War regimental marking. 4th Artillery Regiment which fielded the 241st battery? AndyBsk Posted 21 February , 2023 Share Posted 21 February , 2023 (edited) Main unit i assume was 241, it could be RIR or FAR, 4B. could be Battery or Batallion. By war units there existed various short viwed units. Wout real pictures is this hard to say, the stamping on ASG88/98 is unimportant probably. trajan Posted 27 March , 2023 Share Posted 27 March , 2023 Really need a photograph - is that B a regular Latin one or a 'script' one? I would go with Andy that the 241 is the unit number, but the 'B' has a wide range of possibilitie, including Backeri, Brucken-Train, Betriebs, etc., not necessarily B for batterie or Batallion. What we could have here is one of these other 'B' sub-units of a main unit numbered 241 with the bayonet given a consecutive number as it was issued to the soldier who received it. Just a suggestion!
