Remembered Today:

Doughboy helmet with different liner

Inserting the caveat that I am not very familiar with the US M1917 helmet, I don’t recognise the liner type but the shape of the helmet shell looks to me like the WWII British MkII type. Idle theorising: it may be a postwar foreign copy or rebuild of a WWII British helmet with a different type of chinstrap attachment.

The helmet shell is a correct WW1 era American production M-1917, but the liner is a later and non-military standard replacement. This might be for a Civil Defense or similar organization, but could also easily have been done for a civilian purpose (mining, oil rigs, etc).
