JakubMichal Posted 13 February , 2023 Share Posted 13 February , 2023 Hi. I want to ask you if you know something about this medal. Is it pre-ww1? I'am trying to find something about the medal but I can't find anything.
Allan1892 Posted 13 February , 2023 Share Posted 13 February , 2023 As far as I can make out it was a 'Military Training Award Offered by the Minister of War' but I do not know the time period.
charlie962 Posted 13 February , 2023 Share Posted 13 February , 2023 The medal front was a design of Eugène Oudiné, 1810-1887. The 3rd French Republic ran from 1870-1940. The French Ministry of War existed 1791-1947. Medals with the same origin exist for Military Instruction, Gymnastics, Shooting etc. I suspect it was a medal that existed over a longish period and was a prize awarded in peace and in war to a successful participant in the relevant activity. But I'm not an expert....
