Remembered Today:

Defence of the Realm Act 1916, Section 19

Looking through my notes, I see that a copy & paste of some years ago garbled a few characters:

19. No person shall, without the permission of the competent naval or military authority or the Minister of Munitions, make any photograph, sketch, plan, model, or other representation of â€"

I've Googled some of the text and looked for the entire Act, but can't find anything relevant. My extract is dated September 7, 1916. The original Act of 1914 was very brief and was expanded several times.

I would appreciate anyone providing me with the missing word(s).

19. No person shall, without the permission of the competent
naval or military authority or the Minister of Munitions, make
any photograph, sketch, plan, model, or other representation of —
(a) any place or thing within any area for the time being

military authority, with the approval of the Admiralty
or Army Council, as being an area within which the

Edit: I have just noticed that this is the February 1918 version of the Act, so may not be exactly what you need.

Martin, thanks for that. It would appear that "â€" may be some form of HTML and that it represents a dash, as in your reply!
