BillyH Posted 7 February , 2023 Share Posted 7 February , 2023 I am researching a soldier who was badly wounded in the shoulder on 2nd May 1916. After some treatment at 18th General Hospital in Camiers he was brought back to the U.K. where he was treated at Queen Mary's Hospital ????? from 6th June until about 30th September. Now the only Queen Mary's Hospital I am aware of was at Whalley in Lancashire, but family descendants believe that the hospital was "down south" and his mother had travelled down there to see him. It also appears to read "Queen Mary's R.L. Hospl" (or possibly R.N. Hospl) - see below Can anyone suggest where it might have been other than Lancashire? (apologies for the dreadful Ancestry scan, perhaps FMP has a clearer image) BillyH.

TEW Posted 7 February , 2023 Share Posted 7 February , 2023 Don't want to ID him if it's not necessary. Is his number 1697 or 1457 If so the list numbers on the left have been found and are on the Casualty List thread. There are two men on list H9159 admitted Queen Mary's RN hospital Southend-on-Sea. BillyH Posted 25 February , 2023 Author Share Posted 25 February , 2023 Following up on the original question, I have now obtained a wartime postcard of the hospital (sign on side of building also reads H.M. Queen Mary's Royal Naval Hospital). BillyH.
