4thGordons Posted 5 February , 2023 Share Posted 5 February , 2023 It looks very modern (post WWII) to my inexpert eyes. Looks like lots of plastic type material in its construction. Also looks very tall? I read up on Kepis a few years ago when I was looking for one to complete a set and the general opinion seemed to be that WWI (and earlier) kepis had a much lower crown. 6RRF Posted 5 February , 2023 Share Posted 5 February , 2023 Agree with the above and would also comment that the grenade device looks unlikely for cavalry
JakubMichal Posted 6 February , 2023 Author Share Posted 6 February , 2023 thank you for your answers. What I've looked at is, in my opinion, the most similar to this cap is this cavalry cap model 1931. the only thing that is different is the blue instead of the gold decorative seams and the other thing that is different is the gold stripe above the peak. (It's the last picture. Others are similar too.)
battle of loos Posted 6 February , 2023 Share Posted 6 February , 2023 good morning, Your kepi is modern in service in the French army for: Cuirassiers - dragoons - hunters - hussars - battle tanks - materiel service The headband is sky blue, the turban madder red and the trimmings silver. Here the chinstrap (dummy) is black plastic which corresponds to the non-commissioned member. michel
