CorporalPunishment Posted 31 January , 2023 Share Posted 31 January , 2023 It's the remains of a cap badge of the 6th Battalion, The King's Regiment (Liverpool). It's missing the bugle horn part. Pete.

As well as a special badge, to maintain their individuality and identity as a rifles battalion, they also wore black buttons. Most of the Territorial Force infantry were made up from similar auxiliary units that owed their origins to the so-called ‘Volunteer Force’ of localised citizen soldiers (known as “volunteer rifle corps”) established 1859-60, due to fears at the time of a French invasion. In the early 1880s they were merged with the regular army’s local regiments, but retained varying degrees of their original identities. Originally each town, borough and city area each had their own units. Edited 1 February , 2023 by FROGSMILE
