zippy.72 Posted 28 January , 2023 Share Posted 28 January , 2023 I’m trying to find the exact location of Sherwood Cty near Beaumont Hamel. Many 3rd Sept 1916 casualties were buried here before being reinterred in Ancre Cty

Admin Michelle Young Posted 29 January , 2023 Admin Share Posted 29 January , 2023 Interestingly, whilst looking at Ancre Cemetery burials, I spotted this man from September 1914 listed. I assume these should be 1916? https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/2853669/w-j-hammond/

Howard Posted 31 January , 2023 Share Posted 31 January , 2023 Have at some at the Body Density series maps on TrenchMapper. Right click, choose Map ID Jump and use these IDs:- ma_004810, Annotated with cemeteries and dressing stations etc. Marked "Survey Dept. M" on reverse. At 57d.Q.17.a.6.5 you can see the word Sherwo..., presumably Sherwood. m_5_000767, Annotated with disinternments and cemeteries. Marked AAM on reverse. but see caution about the AAM maps in TrenchMappsr's Knowledge Centre under Body Deinstiy Series Howard
