davidbohl Posted 25 January , 2023 Share Posted 25 January , 2023 My casualty Pte #17358 Philip Haydn KLR CWGC He is an adopted son living on the Wirral (see here) but I can't find a birth record at all, so trying to find a derivative of his surname, Haydn seems to be quite rare. There is an example of a Haydn family in Lincoln with Irish parents, however the children are born Headen/Headon etc. I'm probably barking up the wrong tree thanks Dave From Anc

Jervis Posted 27 January , 2023 Share Posted 27 January , 2023 (edited) For what it is worth there is an Irish surname of "Hayden". Best of luck with the search. Jervis Edited 27 January , 2023 by Jervis
BillyH Posted 27 January , 2023 Share Posted 27 January , 2023 I think Haydn is a Welsh christian name? My wife's half brother was Haydn and it was his only christian name (from North Wales). BillyH.

My punt on the birth cert. was spot on, it created the link between him and the names and addresses contained in his service record notes. Well pleased, updated his biography https://www.liverpoolpals.com/soldier/?i=1072/17358-Pte-philip-haydn
