Remembered Today:

Where in Le Havre would women drivers have been billeted in 1917-1918?

I am trying to work out how my grandmother - Jolie Buck met my Grandfather Rev Robert Keable during the war.

Robert Keable was stationed in Le Havre with the South African Native Labour Corps. Jolie Buck worked as a driver with Canadian Forestry Corps.

I have found out that the 6 other ranks of the Forestry Corps were initially billeted in 1917 for 'rations and quarters' at La Floride Camp before being moved in December to join the others  (20 other ranks) at 32nd RE Camp. I am wondering whether the La Floride camp was just for women (especially as it was next door to the 2nd Hospital so could have also billeted nurses) but cannot find out.

It seems unlikely that Jolie Buck was based at the Technical Warehouse (there were only 26 other ranks based there out of over 8,000 who had arrived in France via Le Havre) but she may well have visited to pick up equipment for the camp she worked in. If so where would she have stayed?
