John_Hartley Posted 2 April , 2005 Share Posted 2 April , 2005 OK. How about this one:- On 23 April 1915, 1/Cheshire was near Zillebeke. The War Diary for the day records only "Dug-outs shelled - few casualties". Only two men were KIA. From their service numbers, 10060 and 11375 and my research, they appear to be August 1914 recruits (not reservists) Both were from Stockport BOTH WERE CALLED JOHN BURNS. carninyj Posted 3 April , 2005 Share Posted 3 April , 2005 'It could never happen', but it always does, and not just in war! When I plan anything I always try to remember 'Sod's Law' and variations thereof. carninyj
