delta Posted 5 January , 2023 Share Posted 5 January , 2023 Grateful if some one could confirm the correct nomenclature when identifying a RFC Brigade in 1916 The National Archives refer to 4th Brigade whilst other sources describe the formation as IV Brigade Which is correct? topgun1918 Posted 5 January , 2023 Share Posted 5 January , 2023 Copies of the Order of Battle of the British Armies in France, including Lines of Communication Units, available to download in the WO/95/5468 series, show 1st Brigade, 2nd Brigade et seq from the first copy available, 3 December 1916, up to the latest copy available, 22 December 1917; the RFC and RAF Communiques consistently refer to 1st Brigade, 2nd Brigade etc. However, other sources, such as The War In The Air, show I Brigade, II Brigade et seq. It would seem 4 and IV are both acceptable. Graeme
