8055Bell Posted 2 January , 2023 Share Posted 2 January , 2023 Ellis Dawson attested on 13/12/1915. He was discharged with a pension and SWB on 13/03/1918. He died from lobar pneumonia and cardiac failure on 02/09/1920, aged 40. The husband of Margaret Alice Dawson of 8 Hunt Street, Oldham. There is no evidence to suggest death relates to service. May perhaps be a typo - Pension records at WFA/Fold3 give number as 150682 From WFA/Fold3 = A Pension Index Card for a Widow's Pension claim records became DEAD 1931 [recorded16/3/32] having been Opened on LC [Local Committee] letter dated 3/9/20 - rather suggests the claim was initially supported by the Local War Pensions Committee and open for quite a while. Though no pension quantum is recorded she also got an £8 Grant pd 24.1.21 Such a grant(s) was pretty standard for "urgent necessary expenses consequent upon or caused by his death" = commonly used for newspaper inserts it might be worth looking at local newspapers to see if he was mentioned after his death [or perhaps even before it] - though I believe you have previously said the Oldham Chronicle is not [yet?] digitised/online.
