8055Bell Posted 2 January , 2023 Share Posted 2 January , 2023 George Hanson enlisted on 11/09/1914 and served overseas from 24/03/1915 with 3rd Bn KRRC. He was discharged with wounds and received a SWB and pension on 15/01/1916. George Hanson died from disease OR GSW in head & bullet in brain on 11/08/1920, aged 23. The husband of Lily Hanson of 26 Hathersage Steet, Oldham. They had married after discharge, so Lily received no pension. There is a prospect that the DC has a disease as cause of death but I’d be surprised if the wounds are not mentioned. I’m happy for someone else to take on the case and ideally see George properly commemorated. As I’ve said on other threads, I am restricted by higher forces to limit my DCs to Manchesters, although she may not notice one exception….
