John Murray enlisted on 02/09/1914 and served with 2nd GB KLR ‘33338’ and 4th GB RWF.  He was discharged with SWB and pension for bronchitis catarrh on 13/10/1917.  There is not note of attrib comm or agg.

John Murray died on 28/04/1920, aged 40.  He is buried at Hollinwood Cemetery.  Next of kin isn’t clear.  14 Bow Street & 12 Gregson Street, Oldham on WFA Cards. 74 Maple Street on the burial register. Confirmed as the same man by the date of death on the WFA Card and burial register.

In any event CWGC don’t bother with NoK any longer, despite Fabian Ware and Frederic Kenyon insisting these records should be included in the registers.  He doesn’t appear to qualify, so I’ll stop ranting to myself.

Pension index card indicates he was awarded 27/6 pw from 14.10.17 to 13.11.17 [the 100% degree of disability rate for a Class V/ Pte soldier - a not uncommon starter rate whilst his pension was more accurately worked out]

Disability Pension Ledger actually gives Agg. 30% and records he was Born 1880 and Single
