Sgt_Hazell_Great_Grandson Posted 2 April , 2005 Share Posted 2 April , 2005 On Monday my G.Grandfather arrived in France 88 years ago.He was with No 10 Northampton Labour company ( 88207 ) which became 148 Labour company. I am new to this so I could do with a little help ! Which Division / Brigade were they attached to so I can track some of his movements. Thanks, Roland. Paul Reed Posted 2 April , 2005 Share Posted 2 April , 2005 They were not Brigade or Divisional troops. They were normally Army Troops, which meant they could be sent anywhere they were needed.

Paul Reed Posted 2 April , 2005 Share Posted 2 April , 2005 Not without a long search through many files at the NA - I am presuming a War Diary for the unit does not exist?
Sgt_Hazell_Great_Grandson Posted 2 April , 2005 Author Share Posted 2 April , 2005 I have some dates ,but as you know War Diaries for the Labour Corps were rare. 11TH Sept 1917 148 coy attacked by aircraft, 2 killed 19 wounded. 30th Sept 1917 148 coy 2 killed 5 wounded. 13th Sept 1917 148 coy 2 died of wounds. Not a huge amount of detail but gives a insight on the perils of working in the Labour Corps. At some stage my G. Grandfather was gassed but when and where we do not know. Roland. Guest Simon Bull Posted 3 April , 2005 Share Posted 3 April , 2005 You might try contacting Ivor Lee, who is a member of this Forum, who is a real expert on the Labour Corps . He has given me considerable assistance in relation to a man I am interested in who was a member of the Labour Corps.
