Colin M Posted 15 December , 2022 Share Posted 15 December , 2022 Does anyone have any recent experience of the document copying service offered by the IWM? The document I am interested in is 116 typewritten pages and not digitised for online downloading. I know that the IWm charge 40p per page and the copy is provided as a "low resolution pdf". I am aware that there are currently long delays in fulfilling orders. Before I commit I wonder if anyone can advise on the quality of the copies that they have received. Or are there any other independent services? I know about arcre.com which seems to only offer a service for copying documents at the National Archive. Keith_history_buff Posted 15 December , 2022 Share Posted 15 December , 2022 In the same manner that TNA has a list of independent researchers, my advice would be to contact the IWM and ask if they have an equivalent https://www.iwm.org.uk/research/research-facilities
Admin DavidOwen Posted 15 December , 2022 Admin Share Posted 15 December , 2022 I would be tempted to contact arcre by email and ask Lee as he may well be able to help. Also perhaps approach someone on the TNA list? https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/irlist/default.asp?action=1&slctcatagoryid=12&x=71&y=
John(txic) Posted 15 December , 2022 Share Posted 15 December , 2022 Colin, My experience of a few years ago is that they charge quite a large (unrefundable) Fee up front to get their hands on the document, and then give you a quotation for the copying job. So the NA are an expensive option.
