michaeldr Posted 13 December , 2022 Share Posted 13 December , 2022 Writing to his wife (30 March 1916, from HMS Lord Nelson) Keyes mentions a visit for 'tea' with the Admiral by a party consisting of a Greek General, three of his Staff, the General's wife, his CoS's wife and a young lady who was probably the General's (or the General's wife's) niece. The editor, Dr Paul G Halpern, in a footnote suggests that the Greek General was probably Konstantinos Moschopoulos - Can anyone confirm this? aconnolly Posted 14 December , 2022 Share Posted 14 December , 2022 Hi Michael - afraid cannot conform, but can report no mention of meeting in Aspinall-Oglander's bio of Keyes. Andrew

RHLV Posted 14 December , 2022 Share Posted 14 December , 2022 Moschopoulos commanded the Greek III Corps based at Thessaloniki in 1915. That puts him close to the British base and makes it certainly possible he was the general in question. FYI.
