PyroraptorOlympius1945 Posted 9 December , 2022 Share Posted 9 December , 2022 Lieutenant Charles Evered Preece initiallty served as a trumpeter with the 1/1st Worcestershire Yeomanry before the outbreak of the Great War, and subsequently served as a private with the unit during its time in Egypt (under IX Corps). After being deemed unfit for service, Charles joined the RFC as a Second Lieutenant and was again promoted to First Lieutenant in 1917; he was stationed at RAF Monkmoor in Shrewsbury after the war but unfortunately died in a flying accident in February 1919 aboard a de Havilland 9a. Photographs of Lieutenant Preece would be greatly appreciated!
