Royal Navy, abbreviations "L.R.3." and "L.R.3. (P)"

In the service record of a seaman in 1940, under the heading "Non-substantive rating" are the abbreviations "L.R.3." and "L.R.3. (P)".

Can anyone tell me what they stand for?

This Forum is for WW1 subjects only so the Moderators will shortly close this thread.

However, in relation to RN Gunnery in WWII,  LR3 = Layer Rating 3rd Class.

P = Probationary

Insignia below.
