Tom Oliviers Posted 2 December , 2022 Share Posted 2 December , 2022 Another 'new' type found in the documents from the bundesarchiv, this type was build several times in the Hunding-Stellung (AOK 1) Pictures and coordinates from two still remaining haubes can been found on my bloghttps://frontratten.blogspot.com/2022/12/type-haube-beobachtungsstand-mit.html Does anyone know other remaining haubes? So we can measure them in de field and search for evolves/differences. I think i saw some haubes near Vitry-en-Artois long time ago when i was researching ww2 airfields back in the day (i started the hobby 20 years ago with atlantikwall and westwell and inland airfields and radarcomplexes, but after 20 year i'm stuck in ww1, no more ww2 for me ) best regards Tom a haube near falaise:

Tom Oliviers Posted 2 December , 2022 Author Share Posted 2 December , 2022 for those interested in the hunding-stellung, this stellung was far from completed, the mayority of the bunkers are observationbunkers, more than 50 coupola's of all kinds are still intact in this line. there a a few troop bunkers ready but almost no fighting-bunkers (MG, artillery,...), also only a very few parts where completed with trenches, 80% of the line had no trenches at all, thats why i say the line (stellung) was far from completed and still in the building-fase. Nevertheless, a LOT of bunkers are completed, here an overview of what we found
mebu Posted 5 December , 2022 Share Posted 5 December , 2022 Tom I have tried to find some examples of those from the Hindenburg Line, but they are old paper pics, pre-digital, poorly filed. Attached is one from book "The Hindenburg Line" in the Battleground Europe series. This is Lormisset Farm, near Beaurevoir. Photographed by the Australians in 1918 and me in 1995. Also, unfinished one which may be same pattern. Mont Metier, near Vitry aerodrome. Peter
mebu Posted 5 December , 2022 Share Posted 5 December , 2022 PS as an early type of recycling, the British used one of these for an OP. The Newfoundland memorial at Monchy le Preux, with caribou, was build on top of this.
