I concur with EDWARD1.  The insignia is very distinctive.  It’s possible that when the Volunteer Force was resurrected in 1917 by wholesale conversion of the Volunteer Training Corps that the same badge was adopted to replace the general service badge that had been decreed initially.  Most VF units adopted either their local regiments badge, or a discrete and short lived one of their own design.
