Chris Best Posted 1 April , 2005 Share Posted 1 April , 2005 Hi Chums If I recall rightly, REME is yet another Sapper offspring, but when exactly was it born and when was the need for such a specialist organization conceived? Did battalions and cavalry regiments have workshops? If so, any ideas as to establishment structure and range of trades? How long was trade training? Where was it conducted? And were there differing grades of trade (artisan and artificer)? Finally, off to Ypres in a couple of months accompanied by some REME soldiers (hence raising the topic).
