Nicki,

Assuming you are trying to trace Battalions serving in the Front Line with the 7th Division on Xmas Day 1914.

Can I add that the 8th Royal Scots were also in the Fleurbaix Area on that day.

George

Thank you boys!

But sorry I'm unable to find Rue du Bois sector ("The Death Trap"/ "Dead-Mans Alley"). Where is it? Near Chapelle-d'Armentieres or Bois Grenier?

By the way what's about the Rifle Brigade? Next to the Gordons? In the south/north?

Where was the 5th London Regiment (opposite Saxon 104 + 106) and the 1/5th Bn. London Reg. (Henry Williamson)?

merci

Rue du Bois - 1.5 miles ENE of Bois Grenier.

5/Londons - Ploegsteert Wood

Rifle Brigade - 1st Bn - Ploegsteert or Nieppe (depending on the Coy.)

2nd Bn - Laventie

3rd Bn - la Chappelle d'Armentieres

4th Bn - Blaringhem near St.Omer.

Dave.

Maybe you could also tell me which one was opposite of the Saxon 139 (N Wez Marquart)? Please...

Nicki,

I appreciate you live in Germany but there is an interesting Book published by the Imperial War Museum in London entitled "The Christmas Truce".Authors are Malcolm Brown and Shirley Seaton.

The Book gives details of both British and German Battalions that particiapted in the truce and also contains maps of the locations.

Might be worth trying to obtain a copy. Here in UK we can order copies through our local Library but I'm not sure how it works in Germany.
