Discharged with bronchitis, tb and emphysema, but DC says he died from cramps. Entwistle too, looked at him but couldn't find anything useful. Good to see both men now commemorated regardless. He was later employed as a pianist at the Picture Palace in Southport, but developed tb from his wounds and died at Birkdale Sanatorium, age 26. Buried at Southport (Duke Street) Cemetery. Re-enlisted with the Labour Corps on 12 Feb 1917 and served in France from Jun 1917 to Jun 1918, then discharged a second time on 14 Aug 1918 due to heart disease.
