Tony N Posted 30 March , 2005 Share Posted 30 March , 2005 Hello, I hope I'm in the right section for this question. Can anyone tell me if officers had service numbers during the Great War? As far as I know they didn't. The reason I ask is because I picked up an ID bracelet the other day to 73766 Major Bloor and really have no idea if it is WWI or WWII. Thanks for any help. Muerrisch Posted 31 March , 2005 Share Posted 31 March , 2005 Officers did not have a service number, although those promoted from the ranks used to have one! Sure it isn't sergeant major?
steve fuller Posted 31 March , 2005 Share Posted 31 March , 2005 Im afraid that I dont know, but couldnt a name like "Bloor" be a German officer or similar? Did other countries give their officers service numbers praps?
SOMMESOLDIER Posted 31 March , 2005 Share Posted 31 March , 2005 Hi There, I can find no trace of him, to do with WW1 ! My guess would be, it was Second World War ! Cheers Tim.
Tony N Posted 31 March , 2005 Author Share Posted 31 March , 2005 Hello, Thanks to all of you for your comments, here is the bracelet in question. I found a: Bloor, F R Corps: Army Ordnance Department Rank: Temporary Inspector of Ordnance Machinery 3rd Class and Honorary Lieutenant. The one on the bracelet is R F Bloor. Could that be him if promoted from the ranks or would this F R Bloor honorary Lieutenant be a civvi? If not it must be WWII. Cheers Tony
