yeadon Posted 3 November , 2022 Share Posted 3 November , 2022 Having difficulty in establishing a "bombing raid" event and seeking advice/guidance from Forum Members. In September 1915 the 3rd RNAS Squadron was based near Kephalos on Imbros Island. From there it was operating bombing raids on Istanbul but on 28th September a bomb was dropped on the airstrip killing one man. Trying to establish if it was an accidentally released, poorly hung bomb from an aeroplane taking off on a bombing raid OR a bomb dropped by a Turkish raider? Help? horatio2 Posted 3 November , 2022 Share Posted 3 November , 2022 GARWOOD was the personal steward of Commander Charles SAMSON, OC 3 Squadron. At page 272 of his "Fights and Flights" he states "I suffered a severe personal loss by Garwood being killed by a bomb which a German dropped on our camp..." yeadon Posted 16 November , 2022 Author Share Posted 16 November , 2022 Thankyou for this Horatio. I had not seen that book reference so that seems to confirm what happened. Thankyou again - Yeadon
