ww1 as opposed to ww2 Observers wings whats the difference

is there any way to tell between ww1 and ww2 Observer wings ..the cloth padded or flat ones..some one told me the difference is in the Oval shape of the O ..is this correct..is the wing any different

Hi 

its very hard to tell one from the other, the WW1 wing is usually of a more obscure design than the more standardised WW2 Pattern

the two photos below are wings in my collection, the first includes several 'known' WW1 wings the second are more WW2 pattern

i would say that the top two are early, late WW1 or through the 20s/30s the bottom one is certainly WW2 issue
