Elsie and Mairie set up medical facilities in Pervyse in support of the Belgian Army. Remarkable women who are Not Forgotten. Best regards. Stephen (Maldon). yperman Posted 24 October , 2022 Share Posted 24 October , 2022 I read "Elsie and Mairie go to War" and I don't think they were nurses or VADs (the statue appears to show them in nursing uniform) but civilians- Mairie was given an "honoury" RAF uniform to prevent her being stopped by sentries if I remember rightly (I don't have the book anymore). As far as I recall they were both motorcycle enthusiasts befire the war. I also have the book somewhere but there are so many books I will probably never find it.
