Medaler Posted 13 October , 2022 Share Posted 13 October , 2022 I have got involved with the restoration of a Roll of Honour in a local church from which the original went missing almost a century ago. It has suddenly dawned on me, however, that I am unsure of the correct form for listing the names and MM entitlement in a format where the surname comes first. Should it be either of the two below or something else? Smith MM, John Henry Smith, John Henry MM Also, to be strictly correct, should it be MM or M.M. ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Warmest regards, Mike

Ivor Anderson Posted 15 October , 2022 Share Posted 15 October , 2022 (edited) London Gazette uses 'Surname, M.M.' when listing a bar: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/31405/page/7644 However, CWGC uses MM. Medaler Posted 16 October , 2022 Author Share Posted 16 October , 2022 At least I now know that I am not going nuts and that there are variations to be found in reputable sources. Thanks for that Ivor.
