Whilst waiting for Charlie2, there is a card on ICRC site under Davis, Indians, which has no further refs. But it notes he was 35 Signal Company, Dehra Dun Brigade of Indian Expeditionary Force A at the time.

Margaret,

He was never in German captivity, he died at No.4 ( or 7) Clearing Hospital.

Thank you both Charlie’s..

I came across his effects register but I hadn’t studied it. The Red Cross document is just a record saying he was missing. Am I right in saying that.

That will be no7, which opens Dec 1914 at Merville. no4 was at Poperinghe.

Yes. An enquiry, not a German report.
