KONDOA Posted 26 March , 2005 Share Posted 26 March , 2005 John, The 38th Auxiliary Mechanical Transport Company became 605th Company ASC. The War Diary can be obtained from the National Archives here: 605 MT ASC This can be ordered online here: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/recordcopying/ Hope this is what you require. michaeldr Posted 27 March , 2005 Share Posted 27 March , 2005 "The 38th Auxiliary Mechanical Transport Company became 605th Company ASC." Roop, I think that it may have been the other way around i.e. 605 became 38 Auxiliary (MT) Company (Light Vans) Michael Young’s history ‘ASC 1902-1918’ gives the foll further info in his Annex ‘Q’ see page 303 ASC Co. 605 was formed 26 November 1915 at Home (for service Near East) and its role is given by Col. Young as ‘No.1 Special Service Column (MT)’ The PRO file ref for this early part of 605’s life is given as WO95 4957 Young then goes on to confirm the info which you have given thus Disbanded: 6 March 1921 Theatre: Salonika, Army Troops, Black Sea Troops And the PRO ref as you have; WO 95/4810 : 38 Auxiliary Mechanical Transport Company (605 Company ASC) 1916 Nov. - 1919 Mar.
