British Army Paybook

I have several questions regarding these for your consideration,

1) did the soldier carry it on his person at all times (except on a trench raid)?

2) did it have stiff board covers (i.e., a hardback)?

3) what were the dimensions of the paybook?

1. I can't see it written in the book, but sure I've read somewhere that it should be kept in one of the jacket pockets at all times.

2. Cover is a thin card , covered in some material.

3. It's approximately 6" × 4" when closed

Hope this help's

Dave,

I knew that somebody must have the details, so many thanks.

Postcards to/from my grandfather are relatively uncreased, and I wondered if he had carried them in his playbook.

Certainly the playbook is large enough.

JMB

your welcome, I'm still getting to grips with my new tablet, so apologies for the images.

Best
