jay dubaya Posted 3 July , 2022 Share Posted 3 July , 2022 Does any forum pal have a copy or access to the above titled book? I’d like to know how much of the book relates to Corporal 400 Richard Pittman who was killed in action on 1st July 1916 at Beaumont Hamel and if there are any conclusions as to his grave. This soldier appeared on my radar a few years ago as one that needed further research and I’ve only just learned of this publication. Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers, J

He just happened to be the last grave and name that the author and her daughter were searching for in trying to locate all the RNR Soldiers who died on July 1, 1916. They did find his name eventually and the book ends with a little information on him. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3469187-what-became-of-corporal-pittman JP
jay dubaya Posted 3 July , 2022 Author Share Posted 3 July , 2022 Thanks for that JP, for whatever reason I’d missed that review. Thankfully it may appear more vital information is accessible 50 years on, I’ve managed to find a reasonably priced copy of the book as it may also shed light on further anomalies with this regiment and their 1st July.
