MrEd Posted 21 June , 2022 Share Posted 21 June , 2022 Daft question, but i dont want to guess. In a war diary for the 7Bn East Kent regiment if regularly refers to x as a unit of measure meant i.e 'we took 1000x of trench' 'we advanced 1000x' etc What is 'x'? feet? yards? some other military unit of distance? thanks Ed
Acknown Posted 21 June , 2022 Share Posted 21 June , 2022 Yards, for my money. Here is a link that discusses it: http://www.naval-history.net/OWShips-ForumMat.htm. In addition, I vaguely remember using it myself in the dim and distant past and I didn't invent it. Acknown
