armourersergeant Posted 24 March , 2005 Share Posted 24 March , 2005 I see from the mother site that the Chateau at Potijze was literally raised to the ground and never rebuilt and is now has a cemetery in its grounds. I was wondering if there is anything left or if it was all cleared away when the cemetery went in. I am interested as Major-General Snow when commander of 27th division had his command post in the grounds here during 2nd Ypres. regards Arm. ALANJONES Posted 24 March , 2005 Share Posted 24 March , 2005 Arm there are three cemeteries there, all pretty close to each other. There did not seem to be any remnant of the Chateau itself but you could work out from the trench map where it was!! Alan
armourersergeant Posted 24 March , 2005 Author Share Posted 24 March , 2005 Thanks Alan, We will be around this area on the Pals trip and I was wondering if it was worth doing the grovelling part to Chris to see if we could have a quick gander round the place. regards Arm.
